Growing from Seed / Sustainable Farming

Susan and Harvey Moser (Moser Manor) and Randy Fulk (Stokes County Extension) will offer a demonstration of the best methods of seed starting and growing healthy vegetables, plus information about ways to grow sufficient food, fiber, and energy crops while protecting the environment.

The perfect opportunity to learn how your food is grown, and to ask all the questions you have about growing it yourself — members of the King Farmers Market, including Pat Jacques (Enon Meadows Farm), will be on hand with the answers!

Join us at 6:30 PM at the King Public Library Shelton Room, 101 Pilot View Dr, King, NC 27021, phone: (336) 983-3868.

Growing and Using Herbs

Join Pat Jacques (Enon Meadows Farm) with Susan and Harvey Moser (Moser Manor) to learn about growing and using herbs. This is an informal program, FREE and open to the public.

Herbs are useful, easy-to-grow plants. Maybe you cook with herbs, but have you ever used them to make environmentally safe household cleaning products or cosmetics? If you love potpourri, consider making herbal wreaths and soaps, too. Learn how you can enhance your life with fresh herbs you grew yourself.

Wreathmaking Days

12/2/12 followup:

Thanks to everyone who came out to the farm last weekend to create wreaths, swags, centerpieces, and arrangements! I hope everybody had as much fun as I did.

My new wreathmaking machine and assorted wreath/swag forms arrived a bit late, but our next get-together will be even better (especially if I can figure out how to use them…)

So, how about some Valentine’s Day wreaths?  Centerpieces for Easter?  ‘Random Acts of Kindness’ Day swags??

————————————————————————————————

Kickstart your holiday spirit — join us for our annual wreathmaking day!  Christmas music, holiday teas, greenery and all the materials needed to make a wreath or other arrangement will be provided.  Bring along any special touches you’d like to use, plus extra greenery if you have some to share.  $20 per person.

Choose your day: Meet us at the farm cottage at 10AM on Saturday (11/24)  or at 1:30 on Sunday (11/25).

Please email us at enonmeadows@triad.rr.com by November 18th to reserve your space; we will respond promptly with payment options and driving directions.

We’re looking forward to seeing you at the farm!

Free Movie Night at Enon Meadows

11/6/2012  Sorry folks, Movie Night will have to be postponed.   We will hold our wreathmaking workshops on 11/24 and 11/25 as scheduled.

11//4/2012  Mike and Pat Jacques invite you to join us at Enon Meadows Farm for movie night –  if you’re a person who eats food, you need to see “Food Inc”, a no-holds-barred documentary about the food industry.  Even if you’ve already seen this movie, think about how much fun it will be to watch it again, surrounded by like-minded friends.

The show will start at 7:00 on Thursday evening (11/8/12) at the cottage, but come as early as 6:30 for socializing.  Of course, we’ll be serving cheese popcorn (organic!!) and beverages.

Admission is free for this event, but please call or email to register, as seating is limited.  (336-413-6467 or enonmeadows@triad.rr.com)
